October 7- December 9
Strategically publishing essays can generate interest in a book project, helping writers land an agent, sign a book deal or sell books. But how do we build strong excerpts from memoirs-in-progress? What related essays might we write that establish our expertise? Where should we publish? In this workshop, writers compare the memoir openings of authors like Francisco Cantu and Cheryl Strayed with the short-form works they published along the way. Writers will submit one essay of their own for feedback. This class is hosted online by Seattle’s Hugo House and will be asynchronous.
Registration will open in August. Scholarship applications accepted until August 23.
