What is initiation, and how can writing projects offer unique (and repeated) invitations towards the next step of your spiritual evolution?

In this 6-week class, you’ll learn to approach book writing as a soul-led process that holds a lantern to your path—allowing you to see, at any given point, your next step to becoming who you’re meant to be.

Across our six weeks, we’ll learn to “read” our artistic processes, noticing the ways writing asks us to tolerate more of the truth, have difficult conversations, practice being seen, and somatically process trauma and old protections. We’ll also discuss unconventional ways to work with the blocks that come up in a writing process—from getting to know your book as a Being, to calling in help from other planes, to incorporating ritual into your writing life, to receiving energy work or past life regressions, to embarking on essential journeys (and more!). We’ll even practice some of what we discuss—talking openly about our spiritual lives and engaging in occasional (beginner-level) somatic work within the safe container of our class.

Ultimately, we’ll wrestle with the truth that because some of us were built to write, the spirits know they can use this as a leverage point for our evolution. (Sorry! It’s uncomfortable!) When we bravely show up to our initiation process on the page, we step closer to serving the collective from a place of power, discernment, and alignment overall— and that’s what the world needs most from us.

I'm in!

At checkout, you’ll have the option to add a discounted 1-1 Breadcrumb Session, to talk with Kati about where you are in your spiritual path and writing life.

Please note that this class is intended for writers of memoir and is ideal for those working on a sustained writing project. Classes will be recorded for those who do not live in U.S. time zones. However, I ask that all participants located within reasonable time zones make intentional effort to be a part of our live classes, for the erotic integrity of our container. This is an interactive, experiential class and not a series of slideshow lectures.

Your Guide: Kati Standefer is a shamanic practitioner and the author of Lightning Flowers—a book whose writing required her to travel to the Congo, scream alone in a house for several months, and talk to angels, among many other uncomfortable and expensive processes.

Writing Lightning Flowers was a massive initiatory undertaking that, by its end, left her unable to ignore the spirit world and her place in it. She now writes “The Wild and Holy Moment”—a newsletter about surviving multiple death initiations and being courted by shamanic practice as a person without clear spiritual lineage, in a modern world.

This decades-long process of being trained for spiritual service by land spirits, plant medicines, celestial beings, and human teachers of many traditions—including most recently at the Nordic School of Shamanism near Lavik, Norway—will also be a book that engages the historical destruction of shamanic lineages around the world.

Lightning Flowers was a Finalist for the 2021 Kirkus Prize and a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice/Staff Pick, among many other accolades.
