From being featured on NPR's Fresh Air to appearing in Oprah Magazine's Reading Room, Kati Standefer's debut book Lightning Flowers: My Journey to Uncover the Cost of Saving a Life is making a splash. What's it like to go from dreaming of being an author to actually seeing your book in the world? In this discussion, Kati Standefer will share her behind-the-scenes journey from the solitude of artmaking to her new role holding conversations about the urgent issues that appear in her book. She'll also give a short reading from the book that offers church members a glimpse into why this book is so relevant right now. Lightning Flowers can be ordered from any bookstore, but she recommends supporting The Book Stall in Winnetka, the closest independent bookstore to Arlington Heights. The Book Stall will be hosting her for a reading on November 19.
