There is a great temptation to airbrush ourselves on the page, to fill in the pockmarks of our flaws--and yet this leaves us not only less trustworthy, but less interesting. In this 2.5-hour nonfiction seminar, students will explore how the contradictions in their personalities—the gaps between dirty laundry and grace—are the most interesting space. Together, we'll discuss how craft choices around persona and structure can help us harness this charge, using archetype cards to write into our gorgeous, contradictory selves.
This event is FREE to the public. Pre-readings required include Leslie Jamison's "The Empathy Exams" and Cheryl Strayed's "Love of My Life." Contact Sublette County Public Library for details.
